Thanks for reading my review, God bless and Happy gaming weekend. I like the fact that I can experience the first game at its prime, so a thumbs up to the developers and publishers for bringing this masterpiece back to the Nintendo Switch. Most of the time, one will hear the sound effects from fighting, platforming, and enemies being defeated. The soundtrack is quite wonderful in a retro gaming way, if you love the 8-bits tunes from Game Boy Color then you’ll love this special number. The developers managed to bring the design of both characters and landscape back into the Nintendo Switch, I’ll say that a great job well done. The visuals are from the Game Boy Color version that was originally released in the year 2002 and it’s been enhanced with GBA features which makes the saturation to be brighter but a bit less colorful than the original version. So far so good, the game has the perfect timing to be back in our lives because some of us miss the game and some of us never experienced playing, for example, me of course.

Though this is my first time playing the game and it’s a good experience so far.

To conclude this review, I love that I get the opportunity to play the first game from the Shantae gaming series and I’m loving it so far. Too bad the movements of Shantae are not that fast but since it’s the first game of the series, I’ll say it’s good for now. The controls mostly consist of jump and attack buttons but if you get some power up, it will feel different. The controls are well-maintained from GBC which made easy for me to follow and it’s a great time to gain experience of playing the game for the first time. While exploring each town, it’s not like other games that you’ll explore in 2D but a bit of 3D expect while entering a building.
#Shantae gba features plus#
The gameplay is that of a 2D side scrolling platformer that the developers maintained its gaming roots from GBC to Nintendo Switch, while playing the game, it has the same game file saving functionality as NES and SNES on Nintendo Switch in the form of states which is a plus because if I lost all my lives and I’ll have to go back to the last save point, that will be stressful and now it’s right at home on the Nintendo Switch. The game has two options either to play it as the original GBC version or as the GBA features unlocked, so in this case, I chose the GBA features unlocked which made the game a bit cleaner and added more lighting to the game as I was playing it. Seeing that WayForward in collaborating with LimitedRun not only publishing the game digitally but also publishing the collection of Shantae games as physical copies which is a dream come true.Īs a walk through memory lane, I was amazed by people’s reaction towards the announcement of the game being released on Nintendo Switch as a GBA enhanced version and I was thrilled because it was my first time playing the game, also it’s an amazing feeling. This is a great time to see old video games coming back to our lives but this time not on the small screens but on the bigger home console that is Nintendo Switch.
